Consular Club HCMC Fundraising Dinner Raises $177,000 for Charities

The Consular Club raised an incredible $177,000USD for Southern Vietnamese charities at its Fundraising Dinner held at the Intercontinental Saigon on Saturday 30 September, the most funds the Club has ever raised from a single event in its 29-year history.

The exceptional result topped off a glittering night which saw the diplomatic and business come together to generously support the life-changing work of VietHarvest, Planète Enfants and Développment Vietnam and the Brighter Path Girl’s Club of VinaCapital Foundation.

“On behalf of the members of the Consular Club I would like to thank the incredible donors, auction prize winners, all the event sponsors and of course everyone who attended the event,” says Milena Padula, President of the Consular Club HCMC. “We were superbly hosted by the Intercontinental Saigon and together with the cultural performers, thrilling live auction thanks to the talents of Greg Ohan and Hao Tran and generosity of the audience, we made it a night to remember.”

VietHarvest, which aims to tackle food waste and hunger, collects quality surplus food and redistributes it to underserved communities. They will use the funds raised to help set up a home here says VietHarvest Ho Chi Minh City Manager, Phuong Anh.

“VietHarvest has only been in HCMC for four months but in that time, we’ve delivered 20,000 meals from eight food donors and we’re expanding fast,

“We now need to find a home here in HCMC where we can set ourselves up - receive, store, and turn rescued food into nutritious meals, and hold events to support our operations. The money from the Fundraising Dinner will help us do just that.”

“We never expected to receive this size of donation from the event, and we are absolutely blown away by the support and generosity we have so gratefully received,” says Phuong Anh.

The Consular Club would like to acknowledge and thank the many businesses and organisations that made the event possible:
